Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
