Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor has been charged with performing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
