The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It features the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar song created by artist the talented musician. It's a track from the official score of that title, the second release released by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The show's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some surprises and differences from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be one of them.

This animated adventure will be available to watch on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to learn about the characters of the second series, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
